People of Body Basics

David Kutler – Owner, President

Founder of Body Basics
Even while enjoying his work at the corporate office of Richman Gordman in the early 1980’s, David Kutler dreamed of having his own business—one that would make an affirmative contribution to the community. So acting on a passion for good health and conditioning, David pooled his resources to open Body Basics in 1986 to provide the best selection and expertise in home and commercial fitness equipment.
David’s approach to building his business has been simple: if you help make a positive impact on peoples’ health and life, the rewards will come. “We’re seeing our original goals accomplished,” David shares. “Customers who bought from us in our early years are returning to buy a newer piece, to add more equipment or to bring in their children now grown-up—allowing us to serve a second generation in that family.”
Being active in helping the community goes beyond his store. David is involved in a number of area organizations including Rotary. He’s a big believer in promoting local business with his membership in the Omaha Chamber of Commerce, Buy It Local and Omaha Local Business Alliance. “Spending your money with a locally-owned business provides a much greater return for your community,” continues David. “Overall, locally-owned businesses give more back by their support of local charities and community organizations.”
As for David’s favorite way to stay in shape and work out, he enjoys his elliptical cross trainer as well as a Vectra strengthening home gym.
